Olimpia Auto Glass, a prominent player in Turkey’s automotive industry, is tarnishing its reputation by resorting to egregious union-busting tactics against its own workers. Despite claims of empowering employees, the company’s actions speak louder than words as it undermines the fundamental rights of its workforce.
For over a year, Kristal-İş, a respected trade union affiliated with IndustriAll, has been diligently organizing workers at Olimpia Auto Glass and Manisa Ceramic. Recently, after meeting all legal requirements and obtaining official certification from the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Kristal-İş was recognized as a bargaining party at Olimpia Auto Glass.
However, instead of respecting the rights of its workers and engaging in meaningful dialogue, Olimpia Auto Glass management has chosen to retaliate. Reports reveal disturbing tactics, including coercion and intimidation, aimed at pressuring workers to resign from the union. Such behaviour not only violates national labour laws but also flagrantly disregards international labour standards.
Brave workers of Olimpia Auto Glass who are standing up for their rights deserve solidarity. It is imperative that we hold Olimpia Auto Glass accountable for its actions and demand an immediate end to these anti-union practices.
